The first significant expansion of Sarzana beyond the walls,
happened between the south side of the 15th boundary and the Oratory dedicated
to the Holy Trinity, built at the end of the XVII c.. The building has a centralized plan, and presents not casual similarities with the 18th c. phase of the Oratory of the Mercy, called also “Oratory of the Neri”. Inside, on one side of the high altar there is an altar-piece portraying the Madonna with the Child and the SS. Carlo Borromeo, Bernardino from Siena and Antonio from Padova, made by Maffei of Vicenza, one of the most important painters from Veneto of the XVII c. Text of Piero Donati |
